2019 Annual Meeting Overview

Wednesday, March 6th stemCONNECT, The Florida High Tech Corridor’s team, met with partners from school districts, companies, colleges, economic development councils, and non-profits at the Orlando Science Center. We gave an update on stemCONNECTs reach, goals, and partnerships.

In 2018, we reached 10,283 students in 438 classrooms through 285 stemCONNECT Sessions. Making our overall reach by the end of 2018 18,913 students, in 819 classrooms. We know our success wouldn’t be possible without everyone who partners and volunteers with us.

2018 Recognition:

Districts with the Most Registered Classrooms:
  • School District of Hillsborough County with 135 Classrooms
  • Orange County Public Schools with 123 Classrooms
  • Brevard Public Schools with 44 Classrooms

Districts with the Most Students Reached:
  • Orange County Public Schools with 302 Classes and 6,695 Students
  • School District of Hillsborough County with 154 Classes and 3,649 Students
  • Brevard Public Schools with 59 Classes and 1,386 Students

Top Partnerships Based on Reach:
  • Boys and Girls Clubs: 202 Classrooms and 5,102 Students
  • Junior Achievement of Tampa Bay: 150 Classrooms and 4,048 Students
  • Junior Achievement of Central Florida: 127 Classrooms and 1,949 Students

Top Companies to Participate:
  • NASA - Weiping Yu: 75 Sessions and 1,815 Students
  • Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division - Dani McNeely: 47 Sessions and 1,622 Students.
  • Roundtable Productions - Stefan Price: 37 Sessions and 874 Students

Our final recognition was special recognition for Hank Okraski with the National Center for Simulation for his STEM Commitment and Dedication.
